Location
The city of Austin is a combination state capital, university town, and high-tech center, known for its live music, its scenic Hill Country setting, and its laid-back atmosphere. Austin is the gateway to the Texas Hill Country, whose live oak covered hills, limestone bluffs, and series of lakes and rivers offer scenery unlike anywhere else in the state. Austin has more musicians and music venues per capita than anywhere else in the country, and the South By Southwest and Austin City Limits music festivals help give the city its identity as “Live Music Capital of the World”. It is very much an outdoor town, with runners, hikers, cyclists, swimmers, kayakers and boaters active throughout the year.
The rolling and rugged topography make Austin a unique and often dramatic setting for golf, no more so than at Austin Country Club, located in the hills of west Austin just south of Lake Austin.
